What is CrossFit
Have you heard about CrossFit but not really sure what it is? Maybe you’ve heard CrossFit is only for elite athletes? Whatever you have heard or seen the most important thing to know is that CrossFit is for everyone. CrossFitters are individuals from all walks-of-life that come together for a common goal… health! CrossFit athletes include everyone from elite athletes, firefighters, police officers and military to those looking to lose weight, get back into shape and live a healthy, active lifestyle.
The CrossFit Program
CrossFit, originally developed by coach Greg Glassman, improves an individuals’ fitness level so they can be ready for whatever physical challenges may arise. This is achieved by using constantly varied functional movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, and running. CrossFit workouts include the use of kettlebells, barbells, medicine balls, jump rope, pull-up bars and your own body to increase fitness levels. The program is designed to improve your overall fitness by focusing on 10 fitness areas. These include:
- Cardio-respiratory Endurance
- Stamina
- Strength
- Flexibility
- Power
- Speed
- Coordination
- Agility
- Balance
- Accuracy
Each CrossFit workout is challenging but each workout is scalable to your fitness level. CrossFit classes are group classes lead by a Certified CrossFit Coach. Our CrossFit program is designed to help those just starting their journey as well as seasoned athletes achieve their fitness goals.
